Fading-Resilient Super-Orthogonal Space-Time Signal Sets: Can Good Constellations Survive in Fading?

In this correspondence, first-tier indirect (direct) discernible constellation expansions are defined for generalized orthogonal designs. The expanded signal constellation, leading to so-called super-orthogonal codes, allows the achievement of coding gains in addition to diversity gains enabled by orthogonal designs. Conditions that allow the shape of an expanded multidimensional constellation to be preserved at the channel output, on an instantaneous basis, are derived. It is further shown that, for such constellations, the channel alters neither the relative distances nor the angles between signal points in the expanded signal constellation.Comment: 10 pages, 0 figures, 2 tables, uses IEEEtran.cls, submitted to IEEE Transactions on Information Theor

FINANCIAL AND ACCOUNTING INFORMATION SYSTEMS INTEROPERABILITY

The current economic developments have led to substantial changes in terms of how thefinancial and accounting activities are carried. The business environment can be characterized by awidespread consolidation of companies and their grouping in holding companies. Thus, the focus ison consolidation the financial data, and the integration and interoperability of the financial andaccounting applications and also the integrated information systems have a major significance. Withthe development of the Internet, the architecture of the informatics applications has really beenaffected, this resulted in substantial changes in how the solutions are distributed and accessed aswell. The present paper analyses and provides viable solutions for the use of the technologieswhich are applied in the interoperability of the financial and accounting information systems, in thecontext of economic activity globalization. The dynamism and economic processes development in thenew context have generated important researches in the informatics field which had resulted insimplifying the access way to applications (by simply using a Web browser) and also developing theinterconnecting technologies for the financial and accounting information systems – theirinteroperability represents, in fact, the Keyword. On this economic scenery, the financial and accounting information systems become very importantsolutions to integrate different business applications and also to offer a complete perspective for allthe business.SOA (Service Oriented Architecture), Informational Integrated Systems, XML (eXtended MarkupLanguage), Visual Studio .NET, Web Services

On Promoters/Inhibitors and Symport/Antiport with Traces in P Systems

    Get PDF
This article brings together some rather powerful results on P systems in which the computation is performed by the communication of objects through symport and antiport rules considering the trace of an object through membranes, on the one hand, and by P systems with object-rewriting non-cooperative rules, promoters/inhibitors at the level of rules and only one catalyst, on the other. It is recalled here that computational universality can be reached whit these formalisms and that some of the proofs can be sketched. Three ideas are also put forward to brake the direct relationship (infinite hierarchy) induced by the size of the considered alphabet and the number of the membranes needed in a P system (with traces) to generate recursively enumerable languages on the chosen alphabet

Membrane Computing:Traces, Neural Inspired Models, ControlsAutor: Armand-Mihai IonescuDirectores: Dr. Victor Mitrana (URV)Dr. English summary:The present work is dedicated to a very active branch of natural computing (which tries to discover the way nature computes, especially at a biological level), namely membrane computing, more precisely, to those models of membrane systems mainly inspired from the functioning of the neural cell. The present dissertation contributes to membrane computing in three main directions. First, we introduce a new way of defining the result of a computation by means of following the traces of a specified object within a cell structure or a neural structure. Then, we get closer to the biology of the brain, considering various ways to control the computation by means of inhibiting/de-inhibiting processes. Third, we introduce and investigate in a great - though preliminary, as many issues remain to be clarified - detail a class of P systems inspired from the way neurons cooperate by means of spikes, electrical pulses of identical shapes

    On P Systems with Promoters/Inhibitors

This article shows how the computational universality can be reached by using P systems with object rewriting context-free rules, promot- ers/inhibitors and one catalyst. Both generative and accepting cases are stud- ied. Some examples that illustrate the theoretical issues are also presented

EFFECTS OF CONSTRICTION IN A MECHANICAL MODEL OF LUNG PARENCHYMA

    Get PDF
The demands on materials’ properties, for medical purposes, largely depend on the site of application and the function it has to restore. Ideally a replacement material should mimic the living tissue from a mechanical, chemical, biological, and functional point of view. The estimation of the mechanical characteristics of blood vessel walls, the values of modulus of elasticity and the coefficient of transversal strain serve to determine some aspects of reconstruction of blood vessels. The tissue growth, the blood clotting and the affecting blood elements are influenced by surface energy. In this study, we address the possibility to investigate the mechanical properties of the airways in a simulation study of the human lungs
